Yes absolutely it can be fixed. Your local parts store should have it in stock, or at least be able to order one in for you. Its called a "Water Pump Bypass Tube".

What size engine do you have? Some water pumps are run off of the timing belt on Dodge and Plymouth.

The hose you are referring to sounds like a heater hose. Dose it run into the fire wall?

Ask Your Own Chrysler Question
Customer reply replied 2 years ago
it says heater on it. it is on the front of the engine and is about 10 inches long.
Customer reply replied 2 years ago
goes from right under upper radiator hose down to right behind the pump
Chrysler Mechanic: Ryan-CTech, Chrysler Enthusiast replied 2 years ago

Yeah that's a heater hose outlet pipe.

looks like maybe the old one was metal and broke off and they put on a rubber one to replace it?
but left the 2 inch piece still attached.
Customer reply replied 2 years ago

I AM VERY GLAD THAT I TOOK A CHANCE ON YOUR PROBLEM SOLVING SKILLS. I WAS SUCCESSFUL IN REPLACING THE FUEL PUMP. MY TRUCK RUNS LIKE A CLOCK. IT RUNS LIKE THE DAY I BOUGHT IT. NO LUNGING FORWARD, THE TURBO REACTS THE SECOND I STOMP ON THE GAS, AND IT HAS A LOT MORE POWER AND EVEN SOUNDS BETTER TO ME. IT SAVED ABOUT $500.00 BY DOING THE WORK MYSELF. I GIVE YOU ALL THE CREDIT FOR YOUR DIAGNOSING THE PROBLEM, JUST FROM THE SYMPTONS I GAVE YOU OVER THE e MAIL. I WILL USE YOUR WEB SITE AGAIN AND REFER MY FRIENDS. THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE HELP.
