Customer Question

Hi - my lift gate on a 2012 T & C won't open. The dash says, "manually close door to operate lift gate." It is shut. There is nothing stuck. There is no beep, and it sounds like the motor tries for a very short second and then stops. Any help is much apprecaited.

.
There is a RECALL on the Rear Lift Gate Right side Pinch Sensor that causes the Lift Gate to close with more force, which can cause the Lift Gate to stick or bind
You should have Chrysler / Dodge Dealer repair the Recall first to see if that is the issue
Should be covered by Chrysler
RECALL Safety Recall M17 / NHTSA 12V-191
Power Liftgate Pinch Sensor

NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 12V191000

No, that only covers vehicles manufactured for three days in March, 2012. Mine does not fall into those manufacture dates. I looked on the door for date of manufacture.

Do you know what codes are in the PLGM(Power Liftgate Module)?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
No.... How would I find that out?
Expert:  Brad replied 1 year ago.

You will need a scantool to retrieve the codes from the PLGM. Once you have the codes post them here so I can get you the diagnostics you will need to follow to determine the issue...

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Can I go to autozone and have them scan it?
Expert:  Brad replied 1 year ago.

I'm not sure if they have a scantool or code reader, but you will need a scantool to retrieve the codes from the PLGM..
