Hello and welcome to JustAnswer!

There are quite a few things that you could have going on. It may be an electrical issue or it may be a mechanical failure of the latch.

When closing the liftgate does it get to the point where it should latch and nothing happens?

Does it pull in partially but not cinch completely?

Were there any problems leading up to this?

Are there any apparent issues with the liftgate or striker?

i cant see any, it worked fine and now it just wont latch. it sucks in 2 or 3 times then stops but it is not locked

It will take some electrical testing, starting with seeing what fault codes are setting in the power liftgate module, but if everything is physically ok then you almost certainly have a failed latch. The symptoms point to a failed pawl switch in the latch and the module isn't seeing it close as it cinches the latch.

can i do the testing?

Do you have a scan tool capable of communication with the power liftgate module?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
no, can i get one at a place like auto zone?

You may be able to rent one but I'm not sure they'll have anything with the capability.

Do you have a digital voltmeter?
