Hello and welcome to JustAnswer!

Under normal circumstances replacing the multifunction switch wouldn't affect anything to do with starting. If anything unnecessary was unplugged though or wiring was damaged in the column area then that would explain it. The ignition switch and wireless control module are both on the steering column and either could prevent the engine from cranking.

Was anything unplugged besides the multifunction switch?
