i have a 2005 chrysler pacific that will not run over 2500 rpm's without serious bucking. does not go over 2500 at idle.

If it's bucking when attempting to go higher than 2,500 RPM then I'm sure you're feeling a lowered rev limiter. When the engine controller sees a loss of cam or crank signal or the signals are not in sync then it will impose 2,500 RPM rev limiter. Cam sensor failures aren't uncommon but improper cam timing would be more likely on this engine.
