Chrysler Concord: I have a 2002 Chrysler Concord LXI with Air…

Customer Question
I have a 2002 Chrysler...
I have a 2002 Chrysler Concord LXI with Air conditioner problems.
I refilled the system according to direction.
The compressor will engage (click in) for 1 second then disengage.
The compressor will remain disengage for about 3-5 seconds then try again to re-engage.
Very infrequently the compressor will remain engaged for 10-20 seconds.
I’m getting some cooling coming out the vent but nowhere near the cool it had before.
What should I do?

Chrysler Mechanic: SuperDave, ASE Certified Technician replied 3 years ago
ok, are you able to read the high side pressure?
Ask Your Own Chrysler Question
Customer reply replied 3 years ago
I can only read the low side.
Low side pressure started about 45 PSI
Compressor remained engaged.
Low pressure gradually dropped stabilizing at about 37 PSI.
After about 30 seconds pressure dropped to 35 PSI and the compressor started to cycle engaging then disengaging.
Ancient temperature 76 degrees.
Cool in cab was better.
Customer reply replied 3 years ago

Yes
Customer reply replied 3 years ago
I believe it is getting good air flow because it does not run hot.
Chrysler Mechanic: SuperDave, ASE Certified Technician replied 3 years ago
I really need to know what the pressure is on the high side to properly diagnose the problem.
Ask Your Own Chrysler Question
Customer reply replied 3 years ago
OK sorry I do not have gauges to do that.

Hello and welcome to JustAnswer!
If the system is physically ok then your charge appears to be close. If there is a restriction in the system though and you charged it with a gauge and by pressure then it may be undercharged.
Being able to monitor high side pressure and the a/c pressure transducer with a scan tool is going to be necessary. The compressor may be turning off due to an incorrect evaporator temperature reading, an incorrect transducer reading, or the pressure on the high side may be abnormally low or high due to a charge issue, compressor issue, or a restriction in the system.
