2007 chrysler sebring: bolt..ran would not accelerate..rpm

Resolved Question:

2007 crysler sebring. Started car one morning and for the first time the red lightning bolt with two curved lines like parentheses around it came on. It ran fine to work, then later it would not accelerate to high rpm's. put some heat in it and let it run at a idle for 30 min. and it ran fine for 10 or 15 miles then when i hit the gas the lightning bolt would come on again only when I was trying to accelerate. Then it only allowed low rpm's again. Next day when started it ould not rev up at all evan in neutral. pressing gas pedal does nothing. It is still in that state. Is it the potential meter (pot) on the gas pedal?

The "lighting bolt" symbol is for the electronic throttle system. This system does not use throttle cables anymore. It uses two sensors on the gas pedal and the two sensors on the electric throttle body. When the lighting bolt comes on and stays on it for a failure with the throttle body. This will cause the exact concern you are having. You will need to replace the throttle body then preform an ETC learn which has to be done with a factory scan tool. Once this is done it will correct your concern
