Sebring: year 2000..The top will not reach the usual close position

Customer Question

I have a Sebring Convertible year 2000.
Problem with the top closing. The top will not reach the usual close position.
It stops about 6" from closing and the Motor wines. I have to physically pull hard downward
in order to lock the levers. I am worried that I will get stuck with the top open.
Can you offer some suggestions?

Most likely the fluid level in the pump is low due to a leaking hydraulic lift cylinder.

The workings for the top are located behind the back seat and sides. You'll need to pull out the back seat to check the fluid level and if there is a leak it will be apparent at that point.

If you need help getting the back seat out, just let me know.
