hello, most of the time this is a result of whre the shift rod comes through the transmission case-- lubricate the rod coming out of the trans whre cable hooks to -- usually

lube #4frees up with penetrating oil,tim

sorry,I should make myself more clear, this is happening while driving, when you put it in drive it slams into gear, drive only, reverse is fine, and when driving seems to downshift hard from 3 to2,hope this makes more sense, thanks Dan

ok-- check the trans fluid level if you have not done so already -- if good -- i recommend having a fluid and filter change and then a transmission quick learn done with the dealer scan tool -- this will take the trans back to the original factory presets as long as we don not have any inrenal clutch damage, tim

fluid level is good, changed filter as well, what kind of scan tool do i need?
Expert:  garrtim replied 8 years ago.

the scan tool i use is a chrysler scan tool -- this tool has the ability to do a quick learn -- the snap-on scanner also can do this, tim
