Customer Question

I own a 2004 Pacifica where the sub frame broke apart from rust and caused damage to the rack and pinion system .   The car is not driveable and needs $4000 in repair
The car only has 50k miles and is garage kept . . . what is my recourse?

Who should I report this to?

you dont have any recourse. The car is way out of warranty.the salt will eat through these frames in a short time if they have not been undercoated.happens on all makes

I would think cars in the era would be undercoated at the factory

there is no doubt in my mind that there is design / material flaw going on here

Hyundai issued a recall on their cars that had erosion of the subframe

I have never had any other car with this issue

Im just telling you what I have seen and this is not uncommon on any model and most cars do not have factory can salt steel and in less than a year it will show bad weekness.welder see this all the time on ships.the steel on these subframes are not very thick at all.
