The upper plenum has to be removed as you can see to get to the front plugs. Here are the instructions.

  • Disconnect negative battery cable.
  • Remove air cleaner housing and inlet hose.
  • Remove engine cover.
  • Remove throttle and speed control cables from throttle arm and bracket.
  • Remove the two cable bracket retaining bolts and position the cables and bracket assembly out of the way.
  • Remove the oil fill tube to upper intake manifold retaining bolt.
  • Remove the oil level tube to upper intake manifold retaining bolt.
  • Disconnect electrical connectors from the following sensors and actuators:
    • Manifold Tuning Valve (MTV)
    • Short Runner Valve
    • Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR)
    • Throttle Position Sensor (TPS)
    • Idle Air Control (IAC)
    • Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP)
  • Remove alternator support bracket.
  • Disconnect the EGR tube.
  • Disconnect vacuum hoses from the following:
    • Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) Valve
    • EVAP Purge Solenoid
    • Power Brake Booster
  • Remove the front and rear intake manifold support brackets
  • Remove the upper intake manifold retaining bolts and manifold. Clean all gasket sealing surfaces.

    There really isn't anything specific that shows all the bolt positions. I'll send what I can dig up but they don't show exact locations and bolt lengths.
