2007 Jeep Compass: It runs fine until the BAS/ESP comes on..restart

Resolved Question:

I have a 2007 Jeep Compass. It runs fine until the BAS/ESP comes on. After that we restart the car like it says. But then there ia cough every so often. Like something is not letting go in the rear. The engine never loses RPMs. But there does seem to be hesitation. It won't happen for a couple of days and that BAS/ESP goes off again. And it starts all over again.

What are your current road conditions like?

Customer: replied 8 years ago.
The roads are dry but alot of gravel and bumps.

Ok, I was just trying to see whether this might be normal operation if you were on snowy roads.

This system will need to scanned for codes then, so I would suggest your dealer do this.......and it might be a free repair if you still have warranty.

It is not under warranty. How much am I looking at? And is it safe until then?
Expert:  Mopar Certified replied 8 years ago.

It will be safe to drive until the sounds of it.

Your basic diagnosis will cost you between 1/2 an hour and an hour's labor.....based on your local labor rates.

Any further costs for repairs, will be based on what they find during the diagnosis.
