What controls the vent position on a chevy astro van hvac…

Customer Question
What controls the vent position...
What controls the vent position on a chevy astro van hvac selector switch control panel? Issues i am experiencing are as follows
-blower only blows on high sometimes (residtor is brand new)
-vent selector switch (defrost, floor vent, face vent) does not work no matter what position i select air still blows out of all vents? Not sure what to check or how but with some instruction i can easily get it done, due to being highly inclined mechanically and having more then enough mechanic tools and car lift which im sure i will not need for hvac issues

Fuses? The aur blows out but doesn’t change position nor will it consistently blow out in high but it does sometimes
Customer reply replied 2 months ago
But I’ll check them just curious how it can still blow with a bad fuse
Chevy Mechanic: david craig, Auto Mechanic replied 2 months ago

there are 2 fuses sir. please check them. if they are good, then the control panel is bad. it's not the mode actuator or the blower motor. they won't go bad at the same time. it's the control panel.

Can the control panel be experiencing issues due to something other then needing replacement? Vacuum hoses or what have you
Chevy Mechanic: david craig, Auto Mechanic replied 2 months ago

standby

Chevy Mechanic: david craig, Auto Mechanic replied 2 months ago

vacuum can affect the mode selections but not the blower operation. therefore its my opinion the control panel is at fault
