Ok coolant is not low ,upper radiator hose feeding thermostat is pretty hot so im assuming thermostat may be stuck in closed position hence overheating running to hot ? What else can be a likely cause of engine running hotter then should be?
Chevy Mechanic: Gary, Chevy Technician replied 3 months ago

usually thermostats or water pumps on these engines and a few with bad clutch fans

Chevy Mechanic: david craig, Auto Mechanic replied 3 months ago

you have air pockets throughout the cooling system

Ask Your Own Chevy Question
Customer reply replied 3 months ago
how can i fix this and again can this cause an antifreeze smell in car
Chevy Mechanic: david craig, Auto Mechanic replied 3 months ago

yes it will cause the smell if its over heating

Chevy Mechanic: david craig, Auto Mechanic replied 3 months ago

you have to bleed the system and get all the air out

Ask Your Own Chevy Question
Chevy Mechanic: david craig, Auto Mechanic replied 3 months ago

running the engine with the cap off, squeeze the hoses by hand until no more air bubbles come out the top. it may take quite a few times. keep the radiator full while doing this

How do i bleed system and again hot air blowing out mixed hot cold what controls & causes that vacuum lines being kinked or the actial puece that the flap is on not working properly
Customer reply replied 3 months ago
38; can cooling system somehow have gotten over filled with coolant causing it to overheat thanks to too much coolant causing it to not have any room to flow ? Is this possible? Im not a mechanic by career but i was highly knowledged in repairing cars thanks to me being highly mechanically inclined and having bought a professional lift to maintain fleet of 5 vans thanks to mechanics being iver expensive and not good or thorough but now im rusty thanks to a coma i was in and not fixing cars for a long while
Customer reply replied 3 months ago

Hi my name is ***** ***** I will be assisting you with your question today. After reviewing the previous conversation, what i believe is going on is that you have a partially blocked radiator. This will prevent the cooling system to flow correctly giving you the high temp reading. You may also have a blocked heater core which is why you don't have heat
