I am here Sunday through Friday from around 5 am to 9 pm Eastern time.Zone If you respond and I do not respond back right away I will do so as soon as I can.
If you see a call request on your screen ,That is an automated feature the web site offers all customers.

WE HAVE FEW POSSIBILITIES HERE ,READ BELOW FOR A SHORT DIAGNOSTIC STEPS AND ALSO CLICK ON LINK TO VIEW PDF FILE FOR A STEP BY STEP TROUBLESHOOT FOR DTC P0440 AND WE ARE ACCURATE AND NOT THROWING PARTS AT IT

POSSIBLE CAUSES:

1- EVAP CANISTER

2- EVAP VENT VALVE

3- EVAP PURGE SOLENOID

4-FTP SENSOR,FUEL PRESSURE TANK SENSOR

P0440, Failed Emissions Inspection, EVAP Monitor Not Complete

ALLDATA Diagnostic Bulletin

P0440: Evaporative Emission (EVAP) System

Related Vehicles: 1996 - 2001 Blazer, Bravada, Envoy, Jimmy, S10 Pickup, Sonoma 2.2L

Notes/Hints:

  • P0440 sets when the EVAP system is not able to achieve or maintain vacuum during the diagnostic test.
  • Leaking fuel cap, plugged EVAP Vent solenoid filter, restricted EVAP Canister, corroded and leaking fuel tank filler pipe, or a skewed FTP sensor can set P0440.
  • If smoke is difficult to see, soapy water in a spray bottle can be used to test for EVAP leaks.

Preliminary Tasks:

  • Diagnose and repair any MAP, IAT, ECT, TP, FTP, or other EVAP codes first.
  • Verify the scan tool fuel level remaining parameter accurately matches the fuel level gauge and the fuel tank is not overfilled.
  • TSB 00-06-04-011A: Info - Evaporative Emissions DTC P0440, P0441, P0442, P0446 - (Oct 4, 2001)

Diagnosis:

1. Ignition ON and fuel cap removed, verify the Fuel Tank Pressure (FTP) parameter is 0.0 in. H2O, ±1.0 in. H2O.
--> If the FTP sensor parameter is NOT 0.0 in. H2O, ±1.0 in. H2O, and the FTP sensor parameter goes to 0.0 volts when disconnected, verify reference voltage, and replace the FTP sensor.
--> If the FTP parameter is 0.0 in. H2O, ±1.0 in. H2O, proceed to the next step.

2. Install the fuel cap. Engine running, command the EVAP canister vent solenoid valve closed and the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve open (100%). Verify the fuel FTP sensor signal voltage drops below 1.0 volts as vacuum increases.
--> If the fuel FTP sensor signal voltage does NOT drop below 1.0 volts and engine vacuum from the purge valve is present, isolate the EVAP restriction by disconnecting one EVAP canister hose/pipe at a time until the restriction is located.
--> If the fuel FTP sensor signal voltage drops below 1.0 volts as vacuum increases, proceed to the next step.

3. Command the Purge valve closed while monitoring the FTP for increasing signal voltage, indicating a leak in the EVAP system.
--> If the FTP signal voltage does NOT increase, even with the Vent valve open, repair the vent restriction.
--> If the FTP signal voltage does increase, use a smoke machine to test the EVAP system for leaks.

Okay so we have replaced everything you suggested. Now we are driving it to get the monitors to set and the evap and secondary air injection will not set. Driven the truck about 250 miles and the still are not set and there is nothing in pending codes or current codes. Is there any kind of procedure to set these other than just keep driving it?

What parts did you replace ?

did you run the Test below ?

So no more check engine and code P0440 ,but the EVAP Readiness want complete on scanner ?
