Hey how are you ,I will Try to Help you with This Issue

did it take the can of Freon ? if it went into the red ,you are full of freeon , adding to much in it will make cut off to from high pressure switch

was it full and we have low pressure switch causing the cycling ?

the compressor will cycle if low on Freon, bad low pressure switch , bad ac clutch ?

If you do not mind me asking are you looking for the most possible causes and taking it to a repair shop or you are repairing it yourself and you need step by step instructions
Please Let Me Know
Thank You

I didn’t even try putting any in. The instructions said that if the needle goes in the red when plugged in, not to add any and that the a/c needs to be serviced

I actually just bought it used and totally whiffed on checking the a/c cause it was raining
Chevy Mechanic: Chad Farhat, ASE Certified Technician A6 - Electrical / Electronic systems A7 Heating / Air conditioning systems replied 1 month ago

Chevy Mechanic: Chad Farhat, ASE Certified Technician A6 - Electrical / Electronic systems A7 Heating / Air conditioning systems replied 1 month ago

I would take it and hook it up to ac machine ,like Firestone or local shop ,

recover, evacuate and pull vacuum system 45 min, see if it holds ,no leaks, if it does, recharge system and then see what are the pressures

low needs to be 25 to 45 when running compressor and high at 150 , if high is past that we have restriction,

if low on Freon and we have air in the system,so do that first, if low they will added to it using machine,

Ask Your Own Chevy Question
Customer reply replied 1 month ago
But if it was low would the needle be to left of the green on the gauge?
Chevy Mechanic: Chad Farhat, ASE Certified Technician A6 - Electrical / Electronic systems A7 Heating / Air conditioning systems replied 1 month ago

but my experience at 150 k, i replace ac kits on them all the time ,

buy a kit and install it, compressor, drier and expansion valves and all the o rings comes with it

use a machine to do the Freon charge ,u can install yourself to save on labor then take it and have it charge on machine

remember that low switch on compressor to could be bad

Ask Your Own Chevy Question
Customer reply replied 1 month ago
How much do they normally charge to to do that test you mentioned or to charge it after I replace it?
Chevy Mechanic: Chad Farhat, ASE Certified Technician A6 - Electrical / Electronic systems A7 Heating / Air conditioning systems replied 1 month ago

we do not know if that high pressure is AIR or Freon or restriction in system or too much Freon

with ac system , Freon level have to be exact

to much not good to little not good
