Customer Question
I have a p1548...

I have a p1548 ac recirculation code showing up with a CEL on the dash; OnStar gave me the code. Just occurred yesterday when I remote started the vehicle.

Mechanic's Assistant: Does the light stay on, or does it blink?

Just stays on; not blinking, so I know it's not critical at this point

Mechanic's Assistant: What is the model/year of your Chevy?

2015 3500 HD Silverado

Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Silverado yourself? What have you tried so far?

Only grabbed the code; was out all day yesterday and most of today would like to see if I can diagnose the problem and fix it myself if it's not too complicated

Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?

Oddly enough, there was a strong "electric" smell in the truck when I got in it and noticed the CIL; maybe a short?

Chevy Mechanic: david craig, Auto Mechanic replied 1 month ago

definitely a shorted wire between the recirculation actuator and the control panel

Ask Your Own Chevy Question
Customer reply replied 1 month ago
anyway to know if it is beyond the firewall or on the inside?
Customer reply replied 1 month ago
I probably don't have the tools to take the control panel out of the dash and examine it; but I could trace the leads running into the engine compartment from the firewall
Chevy Mechanic: david craig, Auto Mechanic replied 1 month ago

i would access the recirc valve and check the condition of the connector and the wiring in the immediate area before chasing it any further

ok, i'll check the connectors and wiring; give me a few
Chevy Mechanic: david craig, Auto Mechanic replied 1 month ago

ok sure, take your time. inspect the wiring very good

Ask Your Own Chevy Question
Customer reply replied 1 month ago
all of the wiring looks good; all connections are tight; nothing dislodged
Customer reply replied 1 month ago
however I do notice that when I hit the "recir" button on the dash, it lights up, but the fan inside the recir box does not spin
Chevy Mechanic: david craig, Auto Mechanic replied 1 month ago

there's no fan in the recirc box, its an actuator unless you mean the blower motor

Ask Your Own Chevy Question
Chevy Mechanic: david craig, Auto Mechanic replied 1 month ago

does anything on the control panel work?

Ask Your Own Chevy Question
Customer reply replied 1 month ago
oh, ok. maybe I mistook the "vent" behind the square screen for something else. it matched up to the picture perfect. so all the wiring is good; the fans work; heater, A/C, defrost
Chevy Mechanic: david craig, Auto Mechanic replied 1 month ago

ok so when you hit the recirc button it flashes and the actuator does move?

Ask Your Own Chevy Question
Customer reply replied 1 month ago
what's next? maybe it was a "glitch" and all is well?
Chevy Mechanic: david craig, Auto Mechanic replied 1 month ago

sitting in the vehicle with the key on engine off, when you hit the recirc button can you hear the door open or shut?

Ask Your Own Chevy Question
Customer reply replied 1 month ago
I cannot hear a door shut while sitting in the vehicle with it running
Customer reply replied 1 month ago

Ask Your Own Chevy Question
Customer reply replied 1 month ago
Ok now that I've got it warmed up I can definitely hear a distinct change in the fan sound when I hit the recirc button
Customer reply replied 1 month ago
Button does not flash at all
Chevy Mechanic: david craig, Auto Mechanic replied 1 month ago

ok, sounds like youre ok. sounds like a glitch....

Maybe an auto parts store. It's just out of warranty
Chevy Mechanic: david craig, Auto Mechanic replied 1 month ago

im not sure auto parts stores are allowed to erase codes. at least here in pa. they arent

Ask Your Own Chevy Question
Customer reply replied 1 month ago
Ok. The positive pole is on way too tight. Don't know how to get it off without breaking something
Chevy Mechanic: david craig, Auto Mechanic replied 1 month ago

I wouldn't try it then. you can buy a cheap code reader for like 40.00 at harbor freight to erase the codes

ANCEL AD410 Enhanced OBD II Vehicle Code Reader. What about this one?
Chevy Mechanic: david craig, Auto Mechanic replied 1 month ago

that'll work

Ask Your Own Chevy Question
Customer reply replied 1 month ago
David. Code did not reset after terminal disconnect. So took it to a friend. He had code reader. Code that he pulled was P154A. An intake heater circuit issue. We cleared the code and started truck. Check engine light stayed off. Then we tried again only this time using remote start. We got it to turn over but no start. Then noted check engine light was now on. Seems light and remote start are connected.
Chevy Mechanic: david craig, Auto Mechanic replied 1 month ago

aftermarket remote start?

Ask Your Own Chevy Question

No. All stock
Chevy Mechanic: Todd Audette, Chevy Technician replied 1 month ago

Ok just so we are on the same page,,,the P154A has to do with the intake air temp to the engine.......nothing to do with the inside of the vehicle

Ask Your Own Chevy Question
Customer reply replied 1 month ago
Correct. The first code was pulled by on star. This one, which I'm more sure of was pulled by a OBDII reader. It was listed as occurring 3 times. So I'm pretty sure this is the issue
