Customer Question
I have a 96...

I have a 96 Chevy Cavalier, for some reason it won't start, when you turn the key, nothing, but If you have someone turn the key and and

Mechanic's Assistant: Can you turn the steering wheel at all? And what about the key? Is it worn or damaged?

Another person go under the hood and touch the starters positive and negative together, it'll fire up

Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Cavalier yourself? What have you tried so far?

But a new starter. But you still had to have a person it driver seat turning the key, and another person under the hood, touching the positive and and negatives together with a screwdriver, was the only way it wiould start So they put the old one back in

Have you tried to start it in neutral?

Ask Your Own Chevy Question
Customer reply replied 1 month ago
Ya. It started when I had left the light on for like six hours. I went out and turned them off. Tried to start it but nothing. So I took the battery out and took it up to my apartment let it charge all night. Took it out next mourning, hooked everything up, turned the key and the hood light came on and I turned key, instrument light on dash came on, turn you can hear fuel pump working, then try and turn over nothing
