Customer Question
I have a 1992...

I have a 1992 corvette with 17K miles on it...it is a garage queen..have it on a trickle charger...I rarely take it out as you can see but took it out a couple of months ago & the brakes felt funny, sort of spongy then normal...there is plenty of brake fluid as far as I know when I checked it...could it just be from sitting & they just need simple servicing i.e.bled or could it be something more serious...

Mechanic's Assistant: Have you tried "bleeding the brakes" to get any air out of the line?

No, just took it home and put her to bed and am waiting till Spring and good weather as she does not go in the rain or snow..haha...& never will..she is my baby...

Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Corvette yourself? What have you tried so far?

No, always have the baby serviced at the dealer..

Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?

No that's thank you & have a nice holiday..!!..

Hello there,

How old is the current brake fluid?

It should be changed, flushed out, every two years.

not sure but I am sure sometime in it's 17K miles I have had the standard brake service which would include that but that is a good start...with so few miles I just can't for the life of me think it is anything really serious nor expensive like a worn out master cylinder...she is always garaged and pampered...I just shudder to think it is something other than a brake service and bleeding out air as anything on a 'Vette is just $$$$...OMG...

That's where I would start.

A flush and bleed should make a difference.

At 17000, I'd say you still have plenty of pads and good rotors.

Not many around of this era in your condition.

Hope this helps.
