you are pushing more coolant through the system while driving. not so much while you are idling. see if the temp changes when selecting the recirc button while idling.

Chevy Mechanic: david craig, Auto Mechanic replied 5 months ago

New tech here, sounds like you may have a stuck thermostat open, also have you properly bleed the system?

Ask Your Own Chevy Question
Customer reply replied 5 months ago
What’s that
Chevy Mechanic: Mechanic01, ASE Certified Technician replied 5 months ago

whats what?

Ask Your Own Chevy Question
Customer reply replied 5 months ago
Bleed the system that’s what I meant to say
Customer reply replied 5 months ago
I can turn the fan on low it gets worn if I turn the fan on high it goes back to cold
Customer reply replied 5 months ago
I just realized that today
Chevy Mechanic: Mechanic01, ASE Certified Technician replied 5 months ago

if the system is bled properly then that would either be a partial clogged heater core or a stuck open thermostat, I would suspect the core first and flush it
