I have a 2010 Chevy hhr 2.4 with a P0011 code for timing over advanced. Tried replacing the intake VVT solenoid already and changed oil. Code is a hard fault and cannot be cleared. Tried clearing with scan tool and by disconnecting battery. Runs rough intermittently. Have access to an older genesis scan tool.

I replaced the intake solenoid, the one closest to the front of the car. It was an AC delco solenoid. Yes hard fault cannot clear even without starting it
Chevy Mechanic: tech0405, Technician replied 28 days ago

If you have a hard start does does not go away at all then you have a electrical error in that circuit have you checked the wiring for that solenoid ?

Ask Your Own Chevy Question
Customer reply replied 28 days ago
No I could not find the test procedure could you provide them? If the wiring checks out would it be a bad pcm?
Chevy Mechanic: tech0405, Technician replied 28 days ago

Are you sure your scan tool is working properly and erasing the fault ??

I have a mac code reader I was using to try and clear itt I will try the genesis in the morning to make sure. I disconnected the negative battery cable and jumped the cable to the positive terminal to try and erase it also with no luck
Chevy Mechanic: tech0405, Technician replied 28 days ago
Try the other scan tool and let me know results and will go from there
