Customer Question
My thermostat dial is...

My thermostat dial is staying on zero. LED info says engine hot turn off AC. Is this a bad thermostat and need to replace?

Mechanic's Assistant: Have you checked the Freon level?

No AC is not on, in upstate ny its 30 degrees up here.

Mechanic's Assistant: What is the model/year of your Chevy?

2008 Impala LTZ 3.9L - V6

Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Impala yourself? What have you tried so far?

Nothing so far just happened this morning. Topped off oil was down 2 QTs. Was thinking thermostat because as I said temp dial indicator on dash staying on zero when I drove it this morning, never happened before. Heater working, both radiator fans turning. Again says engine hot A/C off. When I turn AC on AC indicator lt blinls a few times but will not turn on. Again haven't seen this before.

Good afternoon, I hope you are doing great. My name is***** am a Chevy technician and would be happy to assist you with this.

So since the fans are kicking on and you are getting the heat warning I am thinking the issue is with the Coolant Temperature sensor. When these sensors fail it will cause the gauge to either read zero or full hot.

Do you have access to a mutimeter we can use to do a voltage tests?
