Chevy Mechanic: Mike, Auto Mechanic replied 8 months ago

You have 12 volts on all 3 wires? or just the low beam high beam pins? do you have ground on the headlight connector?

Ask Your Own Chevy Question

Good morning. So I checked the headlamp pwr reIay noticed the relay was making a buzzing noise when the lamp switch was turned on. So I swapped it out with another 3604 4 pin relay then I noticed the fuse panel has a 5 pin connector. Should there he a 5 pin relay instead of the 4 pin 3604 relay that's in there now?
Chevy Mechanic: Mike, Auto Mechanic replied 8 months ago

does every pin have a terminal in it? or is one of them blank?

Ask Your Own Chevy Question
Customer reply replied 8 months ago
the one in the middle is blank. With my volt meter with the 4 pin 3604 2 pins read 6 volts and the other read 12 volts with the light switch on
Customer reply replied 8 months ago
Did my last response go through? I'm having a little trouble with this on my cell phone
Customer reply replied 8 months ago
All good now I fefreshed the website
Chevy Mechanic: Mike, Auto Mechanic replied 8 months ago
it did go through, the pin that has only 6volts seems to be where the problem lies I will have to look at some wiring diagrams to follow that circuit, currently not around a computer. Will give you more info in about 2 hours when I get to a computer
Ask Your Own Chevy Question
Customer reply replied 8 months ago
Sure can. Also when I turn on the headlights with the truck not running on low beam the dash is normal but when I switch to high beam everything on the dash starts flashing and going crazy. Guage are normal and if I start it then the dash returns to normal
Chevy Mechanic: Mike, Auto Mechanic replied 8 months ago
Yea there is something definitely going on give me about an hour and a half just doing some family time telling kids good night, hopefully we can continue then

Its going back to my original question it leads to the 2 fuses of the headlamp RT HDLP and LH HDLP fuses. Those fuses had 12V correct?

Ask Your Own Chevy Question
Customer reply replied 8 months ago
they were but I'll got back out and test them again. I also cut the blue wire on the headlight plug and grounded it to the body and the buzzing in the relay stopped and the high beams turned on. Easy to reconnect the blue wire back
Chevy Mechanic: Mike, Auto Mechanic replied 8 months ago

Which headlight? RH?

Ask Your Own Chevy Question
Customer reply replied 8 months ago
OK so both right and left fuses were at 12v and with it started about 14.5v
Customer reply replied 8 months ago

Chevy Mechanic: Mike, Auto Mechanic replied 8 months ago

I've run out of light. Flashlight is dead. Have to continue tomorrow again. This is a tough one. I just put an engine in it and it was a piece of cake compared to this. I tested the voltage at the relay with the key on engine off and running. Only difference was the volts went past 15 while running
Chevy Mechanic: Mike, Auto Mechanic replied 8 months ago

ok so 2 pins 6v of power and 1 pin 12 v of power and last pin unkown or no ground?
