Where should the temp gauge be at?

Mechanic's Assistant: What is the model/year of your Chevy?

2004 Tahoe z78

Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Tahoe yourself? What have you tried so far?

The hose was completely blown off. We fixed the hose but the gauge keeps going to 215

Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?

It was blowing smoke but isn’t any more

Mechanic's Assistant: How many miles are on the car? Have you been losing oil or coolant?

185275 and it did lose a lot of coolant but we have replaced it

Hello. My name is ***** ***** I will be assisting you today. This temperature is a good temperature, base on the check engine light comes on at 250F. Although this temperature is slightly high, since the thermostat should be fully open at around 206F. This would put operating temperature at around 205F-210F. I would suggest replacing the thermostat, since it maybe beginning to stick and is opening slowly/delayed. Also, I know that you have replaced the coolant, but after driving and the thermostat opens, the coolant level will go down. If this is the case, then you will need to completely fill the system and then inspect the system again.
