I have a 2008 chevy avalanche. the speakers are working intermittently with only the front theaters working 100% of the time. it is not a bose. it seems like it is something to do with moisture as they do do not work in the morning and they seem to work in the afternoon. the door chimes are very light

ok I have the dash out. I have installed a new OEM radio unit. same results. read that there may be an amp under console. took apart...none there. it seems to be a heat issue. after the truck warms in the PM sun the mid range speakers start to work. the rear speakers stopped a couple years ago, dealer said it was the radio unit. I was HOPING the new unit would solve it all. no luck. I have checked for loose or frayed wires, that seems a non starter the way it works warm though??

Sounds like a connection issue or ground somewhere, it would be nice to to be able to access the BCM for codes to see if there is anything in that system

what the bcm

its the body control module, the radio talks to that and you can do a self diagnosis with the scanner though the bcm and see if there are any issues with the radio. in this case there would not be any check engine light it would just be a stored code

i woulld need to go to a parts store for that? the check engine light is on btw I have 275,000 miles on it still in great shape though

the parts store do not have computers strong enough to access that system, and im looking now at some tests we can do this system is extremely complicated and will take some time to diagnose, im just looking for the best place to start, with that being said do you have a multimeter to do some electrical testing and how good are you with wiring diagrams?

So there is the check engine light too that concerns me, I would hate to do all this testing when there was a code that would tell us whats wrong the whole time, It would be best to get a diagnostics on the truck or get a scanner and do the scan yourself,
