Customer Question
I have a 2005 Chevy...
I have a 2005 Chevy Colorado with the 3.5l. Bought the truck and it ran great! Took it in to get detailed and after that now there's a big misfire on cyclinder number 4. Put in a brand new coil. Checked and the coil is not getting spark. What's wrong and how do I fix it? Maybe something got wet when detailing the engine compartment

Hey how are you

do you have test light , we need to know are we missing power to it or a pulsed ground ?

have you tried swapping coils like from 3 to 4 and see if misfire exist ,

you need to pull the spark plugs out and check them if fouled ,pull coil out and check for water inside the boot .

did you scanned it and retrieve fault codes , is it showing P304 or P204 ? or P0300

Please let me know

Thank You

Hi Im David, ot sure why you requested a new expert. The previous expert was dead on on what you need to do. check for water in the boots and spark plug tubes. pretty simple. then swap the coils around

If you had read my question just like the previous so called expert you would've read that I already put in a brand new coil so no there is no water in it
Chevy Mechanic: david craig, Auto Mechanic replied 11 months ago

i read your question and Im not worried about it being a brand new coil. swap them

you remove the C2 connector from the PCM. and you remove the connector from the number 4 coil. you put one meter lead in the coil connector where the dark green/white goes and the other lead on the pcm connector where i have it marked. you select ohms on your meter and tell me what it says

OK I put the meter on homes and had both leads connected and it was at zero and then went to .1. What does that mean and what should it read?
Chevy Mechanic: david craig, Auto Mechanic replied 11 months ago

if you had the leads deep enough to make good contact and the meter selected to ohms 200 range it should stay at 0.00 ohms

Ask Your Own Chevy Question
Customer reply replied 11 months ago
it is at zero so now what?
Chevy Mechanic: david craig, Auto Mechanic replied 11 months ago

continuity good then the computer is at fault
