Customer Question
I have a 2000...

I have a 2000 chevy with 6l v8 at 120,000 miles. the service engine soon light came on so I had a friend read the code which showed PO157 bank 2 sensor 2 low voltage. In researching the internet I notice the problem might be caused by a coolant leak which I have also experienced as I keep having to refill the coolant tank every 100 miles or so. Do you think the coolant leak is causing the co2 sensor problem?

Mechanic's Assistant: How old are the hoses? And have you tested the actual mix of your coolant?

I have only owned the truck 3 years so I have no idea the age of the hoses but the former owner told me he had replaced the plastic coolant tank. I am using the Dex coolant 50/50 mix.

Mechanic's Assistant: What is the model of your '00 Chevy?

Silverado HD 2500

Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Silverado yourself? What have you tried so far?

All I have done is have the check engine code read so far. I will probably have a shop do the work if and when I decide it needs to be fixed or the light starts flashing. At this point I had the check engine code reset to turn it off to see if it comes back on or not.

Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?

I guess that about covers it.

Do you know what the code number was? And no a coolant leak can not cause a low voltage problem to the o2 sensors.
