Ask Your Own Chevy Question
Customer reply replied 11 months ago
the spark plug is oil fouling
Chevy Mechanic: david craig, Auto Mechanic replied 11 months ago

I under stand that. oil can be leaking from the valve cover gasket into the tube and getting past the plug.

Are any of the other plugs getting oil on them?

Ask Your Own Chevy Question
Customer reply replied 11 months ago
the only one
Chevy Mechanic: kalamykid, Shop Owner/ Tech replied 11 months ago

Here is what I need you to do. Pull the spark plugs back out, and spray gumout carb cleaner down into the cylinder and do not by shy spray it real good. You want the card cleaner to go down past the rings and wash them out. Leave the plug out over night so the cylinder can dry out. Then the next day put a new plug n that cylinder and start the engine. With the engine cold run the rpms to 2500 and keep it there for ,15 minutes. Then let the engine idle for 30 minutes. This should seat the rings. Let the engine cool down for three hours and replace the plug again. Drive the truck for a couple of days and pull the plug out and inspect it. It should be a nice tan color.

Ok I will do, I think its a seating problem also
Chevy Mechanic: kalamykid, Shop Owner/ Tech replied 11 months ago

If that does not fix it, then the valve guide seals may have been cut on installation.

Ask Your Own Chevy Question
Customer reply replied 11 months ago
No had them rechecked, could not find anything wrong
Chevy Mechanic: kalamykid, Shop Owner/ Tech replied 11 months ago

Then it must be the rings not seating. There is no way for the valve cover leaking, to leak oil into the cylinder with the plugs in and tight.
