2000 4.3 Silverado first start of the day engine starts

Customer Question

2000 4.3 Silverado first start of the day engine starts right up. Drive it until it warms up shut it off let it set for 20 to 30 minutes try restarting, it will either start and die or not start, and sets a P1351 code and turns on check engine light. Try cranking it again and it turns over a little more then normally, but will start
JA: Does the light stay on, or does it blink?
Customer: Lite stays on steady for three or four more start ups then will usually go off. Then repeats the same action the next day. Seems to be more common in warm weather then in cool weather
JA: Are you fixing your Silverado yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Yes cap, rotor, wires, crankshaft sensor, ICM, distributor, spider injector
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: Seem to lack a little power when this happens. I have not replaced the ignition coil as it checked ok when doing a ohm check on it

Hi, I'm Ron and I will be helping you today.
Stand by for a moment while I prepare your answer.

The best way to check those coils is with a lab scope. the problem with ohming them is that you can't labor the coil.

You still can't labor them with a scope, but it will pick up the poor signal anyway. See attachment.

Please understand that I don't know your skill level or tools you
have to assist us. Also understand that I can't see, smell, hear, or
touch the vehicle either, so your patience is appreciated. JA is a
great Q/A site, but it does not replace a repair shop. So please
don’t shoot the messenger if I have to deliver bad news:)
If you are satisfied with my answer, I would greatly appreciate a 5
star rating now and I will still assist you after you have rated me
too if another question pops up. I don’t get credit for helping you
until you rate me.
Thanks again, Ron
