I have a 2013 Chevy Spark that has a manual transmission.

Customer Question

I have a 2013 Chevy Spark that has a manual transmission. Just in the last 2 weeks, the speedometer drops like a ton of bricks when I take my foot off the gas to shift or slow down. I had the speedometer sensor replaced but the dealership said if that did not work it would be the reluctors in the transmission and I would need to replace the transmission. I don't see how that is, as my transmission is shifting okay; but, the dealership said the reluctors are slipping. Can there be something else?
JA: Has the clutch been slipping? Are you having any trouble shifting?
Customer: NO
JA: What is the model of your '13 Chevy?
Customer: There is nothing on it such as LS...
JA: Are you fixing your vehicle yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: No, I have taken it to the dealership; but, everyone I talked to that works on cars said it sounds funny.
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: no

Hi my name is ***** ***** I will be happy to assist with this today. In some cases I may need more info to assist better.I apologize for any delay.

Has the check engine light come on with this issue here?

Did the dealer check the data signals in the instrument cluster with a compatible scan tool to observe the speedometer signals to see if it was dropping as well matching what the gauge did?

Let me know,thanks Pete.
