2004 envoy won't go into gear, No I don't know where it is,

2004 envoy won't go into gear
JA: How old is the transmission? Have you checked the brake switch?
Customer: No I don't know where it is
JA: Are you fixing your Envoy yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Nothing I was driving around town doing some things and when I went to go home it would not come out park
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: It was working fine before. No problems at all. Happened suddenly

does the shifter move?

No it shows park and will not go into gear when I move shifter

It's possible but I honestly can't tell because it was never really hard to shift in the first place it does feel a little looser than it used to

someone needs to look at the shift linkage on the side of the transmission to see if its connected
