I tried to start the 2009 silverado pickup with the factory

Customer Question

I tried to start the 2009 silverado pickup with the factory auto start and it was cold and it did not start. I went and put in the key and it didn't even click like the battery was low. The battery gauge was a bit low and i charged the battery up, but it still wouldn't even click or turn over at all. Is there a safety mechanism that kicked in and is locking the engine from cranking?
JA: How old is the battery? And have you tested it with a voltmeter?
Customer: It is not the battery because the blower and radio were on but it would not even click or crank.
JA: Are you fixing your Silverado yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: I charged it up and there isn't anything I can go if there is a safety or security lock out.
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: no
