I have a 2006 Chevy 1500 with a 5.3 engine. The Oil pressure

I have a 2006 Chevy 1500 with a 5.3 engine. The Oil pressure jumping from 0 to 40 back and forth and taping noise. It is full of oil Just different things to try.

The following test would be the next step in determine where the problem lies.

Remove the oil filter and install the oil pressure tester adapter J 42907 or equivalent. Install oil pressure gauge J 21867 or equivalent to the J 42907.

Run the engine and measure the engine oil pressure.

If the oil pressure is low, check the oil pickup tube and screen. Check the oil pump for wear and the pressure relief for sticking.

Check the rod and main bearings for wear and/or evidence for lack of oil.
