brakes went soft and power steering went out at same time. 2001 chevy van 2500 series.
JA: When was the fluid last checked? Have you heard any whining noises while turning the wheel?
Customer: has some fluid. maybe fluid is low, on power steering. brake fluid is good.
JA: What is the model of your '01 GM?
Customer: 2500. 3/4 ton.
JA: Are you fixing your 2500 yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: no. just happened. but im not mechanic.
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: brakes are soft, going to floor.

Hello, this sounds like an issue with the hydroboost brake system. IT's ran by the power steering pump. Double check that the fluid in the pump is to the proper level and not leaking. LEt me know what you find and we can work further.
