Customer Question

My 2003 Avalanche lights flash whenever I hit brakes. It's in alarm because it says driver 1 key locked door but driver 2 key is operating vehicle. I had transmission serviced and has been this way every since
JA: Have you checked the brake fluid? How's the level and when was it last changed?
Customer: Brake fluid is fine.
JA: Are you fixing your Avalanche yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Yes. Doing it myself. And I have no clue how to go about fixing it
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: Not that I know of

Is there a Aftermarket Alarm or any Aftermarket Equipment Installed (remote start, 2 way radio, Stereo, DVD, etc)

Does the Factory PassLock symbol light up on Gauge Panel & stay on or flash?Have you tried
Disconnect the Battery & briefly touch the 2 cable ends together?

After market remote start up The factory symbol with a number 1 shows up. Even though I don't have or used number1 forever. I have use driver 2 key

When the Remote Start was installed, they typically use a DATA ByPass that ties into the BCM to Start the Vehicle
This DATA ByPass will also affect the Locks, Factory Alarm & other components
Typically when there is Transmission Service done, the Battery is disconnected
When the Battery is disconnected, this can erase certain "memorized settings" in Aftermarket Equipment & also Factory Settings
IF you have tried the Battery Disconnect above, then I would contact the Remote Installer & see if they can RESET the DATA Module.
Otherwise use of GM Dealer Scan Tool is needed to pinpoint the issue
Be sure to bring ALL Remotes
