Customer Question

My crank shaft pulley has fallen out! Thought the issue was with a faulty tensioner pully. Replaced that. While realigigning the belt, noticed the slight misalignment of the crank shaft pulley and the air compressor nearest it. Maybe an 1/8th of an inch or less. Didnt think a lot about it. Heard a pop immediately on startup. Shut off the engine and found the sheared off pulley.
JA: Where exactly do you think the noise is coming from? And how long has this been going on?
Customer: Next step will be to get a replacement pulley and install it?
JA: What is the model/year of your Chevy?
Customer: 200 Malibu ls LS
JA: What year is your Malibu?
Customer: 2000 sorry
JA: Are you fixing your Malibu yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: I am. First clue was what sounded like loose belt noise. Inspection showed loose belt. Replaced the tensioner assembly and then the above happened.
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: That brings us up to date! : )
