Buying my daughter a 2001 chevy blazer. Started and ran

Customer Question

buying my daughter a 2001 chevy blazer. Started and ran great every time until today.. Now turns over buy won't run.
JA: Will the headlights turn on? Is the battery fully charged?
Customer: yes plenty of spark
JA: Are you fixing your Blazer yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: its still in the garage of the guy I'm buying it from. He thinks its the alarm system being tripped. I did what I saw online to reset this but no change. My neighbor who knows more than me but is not a mechanic thinks it sounds like the timing belt just gave up the ghost
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: no, just what their best guess is of whats wrong

If the engine has spark while cranking, it should run on starting fluid. Does it?

Are you looking for possible causes? Are there any codes in the computer?

If its the timing belt how would I know?
Expert:  AMEDEE replied 9 months ago.

This engine uses a timing chain. If it has broke, there would be no compression. You would need to run a compression check on all cylinders to check compression on each cylinder.
