Malibu has a hum in the drivetrain while driving, ITs not

Customer Question

Malibu has a hum in the drivetrain while driving, ITs not when I kick it into Nuetral, just while driving, the car has 61,000 miles on it and was never wrecked, I bought it back in 2010
JA: What year is your Malibu?
Customer: 2008
JA: Are you fixing your Malibu yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: nothing, i'm trying to figure out if it might be a wheel bearing
JA: Besides this, what condition is the car in?
Customer: great condition, I hardly ever drive it
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: maybe 200 - 500 miles a year

Hello and welcome!

YES! It is very likely to be a bad wheel bearing. This is very common on this vehicle as we replace these all of the time in the shop. Most of the time it is one or both of the front wheel bearings but it could also be the rear wheel bearings too so be sure to check all of them.
