Customer Question

1984 s-10 2.8 It died as if the key was turned off. I have spark, I have all my lights and radio, it cranks, but won't fire. Also I have an indicator light that looks like two vertical lines with a 3rd line between at a 45 degree angle and a lightning bolt. I have seen this dash light before but it usually goes away.
JA: Have you checked the fuses? The dashboard bulbs?
Customer: I checked some of my fuses and they were ok. the dash lights work as normal
JA: Are you fixing your S10 yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: I replaced the ignition module, replaced the coil, checked all the wiring for obvious problems. I have dropped my steering column and wiggled all the connectors
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: This truck has 300,000 miles and I drive it everyday. It is my work truck and has always ran great, except for a major oil leak.

Check your fuel pressure next, and if that is okay, then check engine compression for a jumped timing chain.

Thanks, Ron
