I have a 2008 gmc sierra denali 1500. the service airbag

Customer Question

I have a 2008 gmc sierra denali 1500. the service airbag light is on. I had a local shop scan the system and returned codes B0081 and B0084. I am looking for more than just what the codes mean. is there any TSB or what usually would trigger both of these codes simultaneously.
JA: Is anything interfering with the seatbelt latch?
Customer: the seatbelts do latch and there is nothing aftermarket installed around it
JA: Are you fixing your Sierra Denali yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Yes I am, I have not look deep into it.
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: no, I am hoping to be pointed in the right direction

Hi and thank you for your question. Sorry to hear your vehicle is having this issue. These codes are separate codes. It looks like you may have two different issues happening simultaneously. You'll need to have a GM dealer pull the codes in order to find out the rest of the codes. There should be two more digits after the b0081_ _ and b0084_ _. These other numbers / letters are critical to diagnosing the issue correctly. Although, the B0084 is most likely just a faulty RF impact sensor. This is fairly common. However, the missing codes from the B0081 will tell you a lot more about the RF passenger presence system fault.
