Chevrolet Repair Questions? Ask a Chevy Mechanic for Answers ASAP
Hello and welcome! My name isCustomerand I can assist you with your question.
Are you looking for possible causes or would you like me to walk you through this diagnoses?
It sounds to me like you just have a bad battery or a bad connection at or after the battery. What is the battery voltage at?
Ok, good! So what is the voltage at?
A bad battery would. So would a bad connection. Just humor me. Check the voltage.
Right. Thats because there is load on the electrical system. If there is a weak point in the circuit, thats when it will show up
If the battery is new, you could bet it replaced for free under warranty. If it checks out good, maybe the connectiona t the battery are night tight enough.
If I am wrong, then we check power going to the junction block under the hood WHEN this happens. The battery needs to maintain above 10 volts when the key is in the CRANK position. Same thing with the voltage on the fuses under the hood.
I can even send you a wiring diagram of the power distribution circuit to help trace down this power supply problem.
Ok. YES, there are a few under the hood. We would need to check those as well after verifying the battery and connections are good.
If the main or maxi fuse blows, there would not be any power at all. From what your descibing, thats not the case.
Either right off the battery or in the main fuse block under the hood.
I would need your VIN to give you the exact location
You bet! I will be looking forward to your reply!
