If you are going to have a crate engine installed, the labor time is only 11.8 hours and that is high. I can replace this engine in just a little over 5 hours. That being said, even if the labor rate was $100 an hour, you would not have to pay more then $1180. So yes $2500. is very high.

Old engine needs to be pulled and some parts swapped.
In about 6 hours??

I can do it in 5, but I have been doing it a long time and have good air tools. Any shop around should be able to do this job in no more then 9 hours. But the labor time to bill by is 11.8 hours.
