Customer Question

We have a 2009 Chevy Express 6.6L that the low oil pressure message comes on when its hot and comes on when it returns to idle. We have replaced the oil level sensor as well as the oil pressure switch. It has never set a code and when you hook a scan tool up to it and drive it, the live data stream never indicates a loss of oil pressure when the message actually shows up
JA: How old is your oil pump? Has the check engine light come on?
Customer: The oil pump is original from 2009. The check engine light has never come on regarding this problem
JA: What is the model of your '09 Chevy?
Customer: Express
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Yes. See first message

Hello my name is***** am an ASE Master Technician and I am glad to help you out with your question.

Expert:  Dan replied 10 months ago.

You need to hook up a mechanical oil pressure gauge to verify you do not have pressure problems. It could be electrical but I would verify oil pressure at operating temp while at idle.
