Customer Question

Changing out hub bearings on my 2004 GMC 3500 dually. I think i might have one in backwards. the hub will not slide all the way on. the inside bearing has the large side of the bearing facing the rear seal. The outer bearing has the large side of the bearing facing out. is that correct?
JA: What is the model of your '04 Chevy?
Customer: 3500 dually Sierra
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: yes, did the bearing placement sound correct?
JA: Anything else you think the mechanic should know?
Customer: not that i can think of.

You have them in correctly. Some times the the bearings will grab onto the spindle and not slide on. Did you apply some gears onto the spindle before you tried to put the hub back on?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I put light oil lube on both surfaces
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
It needs to slide about an inch more to seat correctly

Pull the outer bearing out of the hub and see if it will slide into place on the spindle please.

I figured it out. They gave me the wrong bearings, .2500 too small.

That was what I was afraid of.
