Customer Question

Shifter won't shift out of park

Customer: No codes. Engine is running just won't shift
JA: What is the model/year of your Chevy?
Customer: 2007 Chevy Trailblazer
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Well I'd like to get it home then take it in
JA: Anything else you think the mechanic should know?
Customer: That's all. Any suggestions?

You could have a couple things causing this. The first would be to check the brake pedal switch by pressing the brake pedal and having someone see if the brake lights are working.

The second thing it could be is the shift interlock. There is a way to manually get it out of park so you can drive to the repair shop to get it fixed. Lift up the shift boot cover and there should be an orange lever. Move the lever and it should come out of park.
