The air condition clutch cycles in and out. The low side

Customer Question

The air condition clutch cycles in and out. The low side pressure goes up to the red zone when the clutch is engaged. The switch switches it out, the pressure drops and switches back in again, over and over. Started happening on a very hot day.
JA: Has the clutch been slipping? Are you having any trouble shifting?
Customer: No
JA: What is the model/year of your Chevy?
Customer: 2003 Silverado 4wd
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Changed the pressure switch. Checked charge but is impossible with the pressure cycling.
JA: Anything else you think the mechanic should know?
Customer: It did function properly once when checking and charge looked to be slightly low but within range.

Hello and thank you for your question,

If you install your AC gauges and read the systems pressure with the AC off, what are the high and low side static reading?
