Hi Cameron,

I've had this style of engine with knock sensor codes where the valvetrain is noisy.

I had one where other techs replaced knock sensors and harness, then PCM, before I got it and said it needs a camshaft from roller lifter failure.

How does the engine sound?

How many miles on this engine?

Gary

155,000 sounds quiet no noticable clatter if any... back sensor was trashed with water and corrosion...

Do you heard any audible knock while driving?

What is the code that sets?

Gary

No I havent heard any knocking... I dont remember the nimbers but its for sensor 2 I think. Voltage low or something like tht. Once I cleared it it stayed off.... I dodnt clear the codes after i replaced the sensors because the light was off... tht have anything to do with it?

Ok, voltage low makes sense with the water ingress.

Can you clear the history codes and then roadtest again?

Ask Your Own Chevy Question

Hi Cameron,

Silly question, but just checking what torque you did the sensors up to?

Gary

Customer reply replied 1 year ago

I didnt torque them actually... the manual I was using said nothing about it so I just snugged them up about as tight as I thought they were when I took the old ones out

Hi Cameron,

We need to torque them to the spec of 15lb/ft.

I would back them off first, then retorque to 15 lb/ft.

Gary

Ok so are we talking big issues if the light stays off from now on and I dont retorque them?

I would say a higher torque makes them more sensitive, less torque less sensitive.

You could be tighter, or looser, hard to say at the moment.

So if the light stays off, you should be ok, until you want to retorque them.

Does that make sense for you?

P0332 is the code tht came back bank 2 sensor 2.... is this a torque issue ir something else?

Hard to say, until you torque them correctly.

Here is some info:
