What is "backspacing" mean in the context of tire fitment.

Customer Question

What is "backspacing" mean in the context of tire fitment. I'm going to order new wheels for my 2006 Chevy Express conversion van, and I know I need the bokt pattern 6x5.5 and a rim width ranging from 6.5" to 8". I just don't know how much flexibility there is in the backspacing tolerance for my vehicle.

Hello I will help,

Backspacing is how far the rim is moved from the center of the tire on the rim. YOu can have negative or positive backspacing to move the tire in or out in relation to the hub of the wheel.
