Replaced the motor in my 99 Chevy S10 Blazer (4.3L Vortec).

Customer Question

Replaced the motor in my 99 Chevy S10 Blazer (4.3L Vortec). Now it cranks but won't start. It's been suggested there may be an issue with the security system because the "Security" light on the dash continues to flash. I've checked everything I can think of -- even some stuff I didn't think of, e.g., turning key to "on" position, disconnecting battery, waiting a minute, then reconnecting. Also tried another suggestion which involved repeatedly locking and unlocking the door with the key. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

  3. leave key in on position
  4. after 10 min approx light will go out
  5. when it does turn key off wait 2 seconds and turn key to on not start.

If so, that went off within a second or two of turning the key to the on position

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
We don't have a second key. We just bought this thing for our son and it's been hell every step of the way! Anyway, we've got dogs stuck inside at home so we can't spend any more time on it today. I'll just plan to get a scanner and call you Saturday
Expert:  CHRIS ZAPANTIS replied 1 year ago.

Ok goodnight and we will chat Saturday.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Great! Can I just use the text link to get back here?
Expert:  CHRIS ZAPANTIS replied 1 year ago.

Of course I will leave this open.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Great! Btw, would it help get a replacement key?
Expert:  CHRIS ZAPANTIS replied 1 year ago.

I would. Your key has a chip that often goes bad.

Expert:  CHRIS ZAPANTIS replied 1 year ago.

You may not need me Saturday.
