my 2000 chevy s10 has the positive cable grounded with ignition in the run position if you pull the ignition 1 40 amp fuse in the under hood fuse box that stops the ground it may be the starter but why isn't it grounded all the time

I might be able to help you, but first I need you to put everything back together the way it was before the problem started and answer these questions:

  • What size engine and type of transmission are in that 2000 Chevy S10?
  • Does the starter engage and crank the engine when the ignition switch is turned to START?
    • If yes, does the engine start and run on its own?
    • If no, is the battery fully charged (12.6 volts)? Is current getting to the Purple wire on the starter solenoid?
